# 4.5 - Create a checkbox column

Use checkbox columns to track final approval status for budget data in a planning sheet. Checkbox columns provide a simple way to indicate whether a plan has completed the approval process and help track approval status directly within the planning sheet.

1. In the **Planning** ribbon, select **Insert Column > Checkbox**.

2. Enter *Final Approval* as the column name and select **Create**.

3. Select the checkbox to mark or clear approval status.
