3.3 - Basic interactions
This module guides you through basic interactions in the planning sheet, including how to add sheets, configure layouts, manage hierarchies, and sort and filter data.
Add planning, intelligence, and powertable sheets
Plan offers integrated planning, BI, and data management on a single app. Use the Home ribbon to add planning, intelligence, and powertable sheets.

Select New Planning Sheet to create a new planning sheet.

Enter the sheet name and select Create.

A new planning sheet is created.

Select New PowerTable Sheet to create a powertable sheet.

Enter the powertable sheet name and select Create.

A powertable sheet is created.

Select New Intelligence Sheet to create an intelligence sheet.

Enter the intelligence sheet name and select Create.

A new intelligence sheet is created.

You can also select New Page and choose a sheet type to add more sheets.
Configure layout options
Open the Planning ribbon to configure layout options.

Select Layout > Hierarchy to display child rows under parent rows.

Select Table to display a nonhierarchical table layout.

Select Measures > In Rows to display measures in rows instead of columns.

Select Tree to configure the tree layout.

Select baseline and comparison measures, and then select Save.

A new Tree View ribbon opens. You can now view business hierarchies in tree form.

Manage hierarchies, totals, and subtotals
Select the Expand/Collapse icon in row and column headers to expand or collapse hierarchies.
Select the gripper menu beside a row header to access advanced expand and collapse actions.

Use the Expand or Collapse dropdowns to expand or collapse descendants, the entire level, or to expand/collapse all.

Use the Totals dropdown in the Planning ribbon to manage total and subtotal display.

Configure grand total and subtotal display settings from the dropdowns.

Sort, reorder, and filter data
To reorder items, drag row and column headers with the gripper.

To configure sorting, select the gripper menu on the column header.

Use the Sort dropdown to select a sorting order.

Select the arrow on the sorted column to remove sorting.

Select the Filter icon in the Planning ribbon to add and group visual-level filters. First, select Add New Filter.
Rename the filter, edit filter settings, add filter groups if necessary, and then select Save.

The filter is applied.
