# Compare data with small multiples

Small multiple or *Trellis* KPIs and charts allow side-by-side comparisons across dimensions. Spot trends, patterns, and outliers when the same metric is repeated across dimensions like regions, products, and time periods.

Trellis KPIs and charts are ideal for operational and executive dashboards, as under-performing or best-performing segments can be easily spotlighted.

### Create dashboards with trellis charts

1. Select Chart 100+ and choose the chart type.
2. Assign the axis and values parameters based on the chart type.
3. Assign a dimension, such as product line or region, to the **Trellis row** parameter.
4. Assign a dimension to the **Trellis column** parameter.

{% hint style="info" %}
Hierarchical dimensions can be plotted in trellis layouts.
{% endhint %}
