<figure><img src="/files/hsKeYjI637dzVqdGYbW7" alt=""><figcaption><p>Applying highlight only to measures</p></figcaption></figure>

### 4. Gridlines

#### **i) Major gridlines**

Use this option to set major gridlines for the parent rows in the visual. You can select from the following values:

* **Single -** This option will insert a single gridline to the parent rows
* **Double -** This option will insert a double gridline to the parent rows
* **Off** - This option will turn off the major gridlines

If the **Single** or **Double** option is selected for the major gridlines, then a color picker is enabled. Using the color picker, you can customize the color of the single/double major gridlines.

In the below example, **Double** major gridlines are inserted and their colors are set to blue.

<figure><img src="/files/dE5duMeQ4rPfkxLDFVlS" alt=""><figcaption><p>Applying major gridlines</p></figcaption></figure>

If **Off** is selected, the major gridlines will not be displayed. This option is set to **Off** by default.

#### ii) Minor gridlines

You can add **Horizontal**, **Header**, and **Vertical** properties for minor gridlines.

#### Horizontal

This option lets you set the horizontal gridlines for child rows. You can select from the following options:

* **Solid lines**
* **Dotted lines**
* **Off**

<figure><img src="/files/wtKpqC8ToycJARhP2YPk" alt=""><figcaption><p>Options of horizontal gridlines</p></figcaption></figure>

If the **Solid Lines** or **Dotted Lines** option is selected for the horizontal gridlines, then a color picker is enabled. Using the color picker, you can customize the color of the solid/dotted horizontal gridlines. You can also set the number of rows to skip between 2 consecutive lines.

In the example, **Solid** horizontal gridlines are inserted, and their colors are set to blue. 1 row is skipped between lines.

<figure><img src="/files/TQhwdoJ1PCu9nkS3rn2l" alt=""><figcaption><p>Applying minor horizontal gridlines</p></figcaption></figure>

#### Skip lines

This option allows you to set the minor grid line gap between the rows.

{% hint style="info" %}
The minimum and maximum skip line values are 1 and 10 respectively.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/sI8iuNLSX0yi8fSYmLOC" alt=""><figcaption><p>Applying minor dotted horizontal gridlines with skip lines as 2</p></figcaption></figure>

#### Header

This option lets you insert gridlines for the column headers. If this option is enabled, then a color picker option becomes available next to it. Using the color picker option, you can customize the color of the header gridline.

{% hint style="info" %}
The color of the header gridline is the same as that of the horizontal gridlines by default.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/ejBf6wjITKXozp6O0bcc" alt=""><figcaption><p>Header colour is set</p></figcaption></figure>

If you change the color of the header gridline, the color of the horizontal gridlines also gets changed accordingly.

<figure><img src="/files/kfrrwseKxq5I5Es9N7oE" alt=""><figcaption><p>Color of header and minor horizontal gridlines</p></figcaption></figure>

#### Vertical

This option lets you insert vertical lines between columns. You can select from the following options:

* **Solid -** This option will insert solid vertical lines to the right of each column.
* **Off** - This option will turn off the vertical lines

If the **Solid lines** option is selected for the vertical lines, a color picker option is enabled. Using the color picker, you can customize the color of the solid vertical lines.

In the example, **Solid** vertical gridlines are inserted, and their colors are set to blue.

<figure><img src="/files/M5dwfTYHosdMh6dfZluf" alt=""><figcaption><p>Applying minor vertical gridlines</p></figcaption></figure>

### 5. Custom date format

You can set a specific date format for date dimensions in rows or columns. Enable the **Custom Date Format** option to select the format from the Date category dropdown. This option can be used for non-hierarchical date fields, flat date hierarchies, and Power BI date hierarchies.

<figure><img src="/files/usePW1Q2vGW2KIaycI7W" alt=""><figcaption><p>Default options of custom date format</p></figcaption></figure>

You can specify individual formats for year, month, day, hour, minute and second by clicking on the **Custom** option in the **dates** dropdown.

<figure><img src="/files/aTTIvcUtDSMJOLfNFcDq" alt=""><figcaption><p>Showcasing custom option</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/PDVhb3rIQVVFWL2oyTms" alt=""><figcaption><p>Setting up customized date format</p></figcaption></figure>

### 6. Localization settings

You can configure translations in Plan based on the language settings in Power BI/Microsoft Fabric. If your report has a global audience, you can configure calculated rows/columns or column groups to display dimension categories based on pre-defined translations when the language is switched.

When users open the report in French or German, their row and column group headers automatically appear in their language-delivering a seamless experience.

**Step 1:** Navigate to **Settings** > **Localization** Settings to create translation entries.

<figure><img src="/files/BHARk0RA5lqNrn8mujhF" alt=""><figcaption><p>Localization tab</p></figcaption></figure>

**Step 2:** Use the **Add New** option to add dimension or header names as keys along with their translations. Alternatively, you can also import an Excel file in the same format available in the **Localization** tab, which already includes all the required keys and translations.

**Step 3:** After adding or importing the keys and its translations, click **Save**.

<figure><img src="/files/2bThAnajctxO7jKPwFCU" alt=""><figcaption><p>Configuring Localization</p></figcaption></figure>

**Step 4:** Insert a [**static or data input row**](/planning-sheets/how-tos/adding-business-logic-and-formulae/rows/insert-manual-input-rows.md)**,** then use the **GETLOCALELABEL** function in the **Title** field by passing the key defined in the translation configuration.

<figure><img src="/files/P9o0ak0RwZIsjFBhwPJo" alt=""><figcaption><p>Using GETLOCALELABEL function</p></figcaption></figure>

When a user in Germany opens the report, the 'Kingfisher' brand is translated into German.

<figure><img src="/files/b9tK9Qk9zPNQeGO8bNtr" alt=""><figcaption><p>Kingfisher in German</p></figcaption></figure>

Similarly, you can insert a [calculated or formula row](/planning-sheets/how-tos/adding-business-logic-and-formulae/rows/insert-calculated-rows.md) and use **GETLOCALELABEL** function in the **Title** field. The image below shows the report interface for a user in France.

<figure><img src="/files/HwoiuBZ6iJ1gyuNFMB3w" alt=""><figcaption><p>Kingfisher and Brocode in French</p></figcaption></figure>

You can use the formula **GETLOCALELABEL('Key')** directly in column headers.

<div align="center"><figure><img src="/files/kRnISwPJcPkHBtgmbvrZ" alt=""><figcaption><p>Using GETLOCALELABEL function in column headers</p></figcaption></figure></div>

Notice how the brand names in the rows and 'Revenue' in the column header are implicitly changed to French.

<figure><img src="/files/Vn6Q7b6InqwPWTkUUk2z" alt=""><figcaption><p>Brand names in rows and the Revenue column header translated into French</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Ensure that the key specified in the **GETLOCALELABEL** function is configured in the **Localization** settings with the required translations.
{% endhint %}

**FAQs**

**Q1. How can I change the Regional/Language settings in Power BI/Microsoft Fabric?**

To experience the Power BI/Microsoft Fabric interface in a different regional setting or language, change the language settings by referring to this [link](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/fundamentals/supported-languages-countries-regions?source=recommendationshttps://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/visuals/localization?tabs=English).
